With the aim to abide all the word meaning of Health as mentioned by WHO, a holistic perception and research institute was started by Dr. Leena. K.B. in the year 2016 with the establishment of Holistic Health & Research Institute (HHRI).
According to WHO, “Health is a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.” When mentioning about Healthcare there is no denying that India has an unmatched heritage of ancient systems of medicine which are a treasure-house of knowledge for both preventive and curative healthcare. This could be harnessed in achieving the goal of ‘Healthcare for All’.
HHRI runs with an objective of empowering common people by giving them complete health care activates, by way of enhanced quality of life with vitality, enthusiasm, confidence and self-worth. HHRI has carried outstanding multi-disciplinary activities in the field of healthcare and scientific research. HHRI is a catalog organization working for the overall development of common people through the holistic application.
HHRI with the help of pragmatic study, research, superior guidance, approach the study of psychology scientifically and practically. HHRI has gained strengths in therapeutic, developmental, social, cognitive, physiological, research and cultural aspects which helps them to bring social welfare among people during developmental programs in urban and rural sector. HHRI promotes the transfer and sharing of knowledge by educating, conducting of medical camps, organic farming, raising public awareness of sustainable development issues by launching co-operative activities with major groups.
HHRI mainly focus attention to set entire core of work as prescribed by AYUSH (in Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy) which keenly emphasize on the following points
a) Providing focused attention to development of Education & Research in AYUSH systems
b) Upgradation of AYUSH educational standards
c) Quality control and standardization of AYUSH drugs
d) Improving the availability of medicinal plant material
e) Research and development in AYUSH systems
f) Awareness generation about the efficacy of the systems domestically and internationally.
Ayurveda Shiromani Dr. Balakumaran K S. (Late) having 50 years of public health service at her home town, Thrissur, Kerala. He was an important figure in sorting out the problem in coastal areas. Dr BalaKumaran.K.S. was born in 13th May 1927, from a small village in Trichur district. Even though his birth was in a middle class family as the years of education went on they too had to face the problems due to lack of monetary. But irrespective of these hurdles Dr Balakumaran. K.S. was keen on his studies and also completed his studies by completing degree in Sanskrit. Later he went to take his Medical degree in Ayurveda, which also he completed successfully. After successful completion of the degree, he received a wonderful career in government service, but after refusing the offer, Dr Balakumaran.K.S. dedicated his entire life in the uplifting of not only the coastal areas but also served as an exponent in the field of Ayurveda in the entire district of Trichur. He made sure that not only the rural people are getting benefits of his efforts but also found out a complete package for the remedy of people in his entire locality. With still accomplishing to fulfill his entire dream in 14th November 2012, the great human being passed away from his responsibilities leading and aspiring Dr. Leena K.B. to start the incorporation of HHRI.
Dr. Leena KB with the inspiration of her father and her passion for Yoga led the aspiration for HHRI. Since the incorporation of HHRI, they were able to successfully conduct several healthcare research projects. Current activities of HHRI research works includes health awareness programs in the community, schools and corporate sectors on hepatitis, diabetes, NAFLD (Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease), diet, nutrition, and Yoga therapy.
HHRI aims to improve the social, mental & physical status of all age group through several medical camps which are being conducted. Also to uplift the children’s education and to embark their efforts an honorarium is given, as part of recognition. With the monumental leadership of Dr. Leena KB and their team, HHRI is pioneering to its goal.
