Yoga means union of the individual consciousness or soul with the Universal Consciousness or Spirit. Yoga is a 5000-year-old Indian body of knowledge. The word ‘yoga’ derives from Sanskrit and means to join or to unite, symbolizing the union of body and consciousness indicating a perfect harmony between the mind and body, Man & Nature. The aim of Yoga is Self-realization.

The science of Yoga imbibes the complete essence of the "Way of Living". There is a broad variety of Yoga schools, practices, and goals in Hinduism.  Among the most well-known types of yoga are Hatha yoga and Raja yoga. Lord Shiva is seen as the first yogi or Adiyogi, and the first Guru or Adi Guru.
